Ray and Flour Bluff Get Wins to Set Up Big Matchup Next Week

LAREDO, TX (Kiii Sports) - Flour Bluff and Ray are set for a monster showdown next Friday, but for now they were able to coast to easy wins over Laredo teams Thursday night.

Ray (6-1, 3-1) came into the game with Laredo Martin banged up after last week's loss to Alice. The Texans were without several starters including all-state receiver Ben Brooks. Cody Simper's Texans didn't miss a beat however, racking up plenty of first-half points en route to a 30-14 win.

Meanwhile district-leader Flour Bluff (6-1, 4-0) cruised down in Laredo 55-27 over a winless Cigarroa team. Sophomore quarterback Cody Brewer had three first quarter touchdowns including two to Thomas Everisto.

The Hornets and Texans are set to square off next week at Flour Bluff. The Hornets can all but clinch the district crown with a victory while Ray could potentially force a three-way tie with Alice with a victory.
