Red Mass Held at Corpus Christi Cathedral

The qualities of justice, guidance, and wisdom come in handy for people in the legal profession, and Tuesday night, a number of lawyers, judges and elected officials gathered at the Corpus Christi Cathedral to pray for those qualities.

It is called a Red Mass because of the bright colors worn by the clergy, and the scarlet robes legal professionals have worn in England, where this tradition originated.

The ceremony can be traced back to the year 1245.

Those in the legal profession were invited to receive prayers and blessings to help them better serve others.
