REFUGIO (Kiii Sports) - The Refugio Bobcats have an extremely short week coming off a war with top-ranked East Bernard, but the Bobcats don't mind.
Refugio Head Coach Jason Herring says the Bobcats certainly could have used more rest coming out of the game with the Brahmas, but it's a sacrifice Herring is willing to make. That's because the winner of the 2A-II State Semifinal between Refugio and Waskom would get a full week's rest before the @a-II State Championship next Thursday night at the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium.
That could be a huge advantage as Cisco and Leonard won't be able to play their semifinal until Saturday due to bad weather up in the northern part of the state which delayed those two teams' quarterfinals games to this past Monday. The U.I.L. has a mandatory five day grace period between games.
Refugio and Waskom are set to tee it up at the Texans' Reliant Stadium in Houston Thursday at 7:30 p.m. We'll have full coverage on 3News at 6 and 10 p.m.
