REFUGIO (Kiii Sports) - The Refugio Bobcats will be facing East Bernard, the team that sent them packing last year, exactly one year to the day this Saturday.
The Bobcats blew a 23-13 halftime lead in that game, getting outscored 41-0 after halftime. The Brahmas went on to win the state title, a feat the Bobcats achieved in 2011 making Saturday's match-up a game of the past two state champions.
Refugio knows they'll have to shore up their defense if they want to knock off the Brahmas. The Bobcats gave up an astounding 72 points last week in a 73-72 overtime slugfest win over Rogers. East Bernard's high-powered offense this season isn't AS potent without receiver Ty Slanina, who burned the Bobcats last year and currently plays college ball at TCU, but the Brahmas are still putting up almost 52 points a game this season without him.
All eyes will be on the grudge match between the Bobcats and Brahmas Saturday at 7 p.m. at San Antonio's Farris Stadium.
