Refurbishing Work Begins on Last Remaining Columbus Ship Replica

Work began to revitalize the Columbus ship replica, the Niña, over in Aransas Pass Wednesday.

The main refurbishing work will be done to the bottom of the ship, which has begun to rot. It is expected to take about a month. Some of the scraps that once belonged to the Santa Maria and Pinta ship replicas will be used to help in the makeover effort.

The Niña is now the only remaining Columbus ship replica in the Coastal Bend.
