Relief for Those Struggling with Back to School Costs

The cost of all those back to school items can add up fast, especially if you have more than one child. However, there could be some relief for parents that are struggling to make ends meet.

According to the National Retail Federation, South Texas families are expected to spend $670 on back to school shopping. Next to winter shopping, back to school shopping is one of the biggest spending events in anyone's life.

Officials with the Corpus Christi Independent School District said that if you are a parent that is struggling to cover the costs of going back to school, just talk with your child's school office.

"Go to the front office, and they will give you information about various drives going on, the United Way and those efforts, and so that way we can fill in the holes," CCISD Spokesperson Lorette Williams said.

Williams said the CCISD understands there are hardships, even for those who have only one child.

"There are a number of churches, other non-profits that are constantly helping our parents and the students who need the help," Williams said.
