Local Catholics Share Experience With Pope

Erik Rosales

(New York, April 20, 2008) At his final U.S. event, before 65-thousand faithful, the house that Ruth built became a "house of worship."

Pope Benedict XVI told his massive U.S. flock to use its freedoms wisely. Thousands of people flocked to New York for the opportunity to see him.

Several Coastal Bend catholics were inside Yankee Stadium for the mass.

This group from Corpus Christi sent 3 News these pictures of the performances, and pageantry of the event.

Corpus Christi resident Beverly Ruiz and her 9 year old son Aaron, who has muscular dystrophy, were given a special blessing by the Pope. Ruiz and her son were plucked from the crowd outside Saint Patrick's Cathedral, on Saturday, by secret service agents just before the mass was set to begin.
