THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM FIRST BAPTIST OF CORPUS CHRISTI:

First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, 3115 Ocean Drive will celebrate its 130th Anniversary, Sunday, August 17th, 2008 with one worship service at 11 a.m. and afterwards with a program that includes Dinner in the Recreation Center.  The cost for the meal is $ 5 person, or $ 15 per family.

Guest preacher will be Dr. Hulitt Gloer, Professor of Preaching and Christian Scriptures, Geroge W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University, Waco.  Gloer is also a former pastor of First Baptist Church.

First Baptist Church was organized in 1878 in a home with four couples as charter members.  As the church began to grow meetings were scheduled in a remodeled blacksmith shop until a new building was erected in 1910.  The church membership moved to the present location on Ocean Drive in 1949 and continues to grow and provide a place of worship and service for the community.   Call 361-888-8228 or view www.fbc-corpuschristi.org for more details.
