Man Shot While Leaving Mosque

KIIITV News

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Police in Portland, Maine, are searching for two suspects in the wounding of a man who was shot in the back after leaving a mosque.

Police Chief James Craig says at least two shots were fired. The victim, who was of Somali descent, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

The victim had been participating in Ramadan services, and the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations called on police to look into bias as a possible motive.

Detectives and officers were searching for two young men, one black and one white, who were seen running from the area just after the shooting.
