Rockport Customers Unaffected by Tuesday's Gas Line Rupture

Contrary to preliminary reports by the City of Rockport, the City now says that there were no residents who lost power because of Tuesday's natural gas line rupture in Copano Bay.

City officials said an oyster boat may have entangled the gas line and during the entanglement process, something created a spark, which caused the fiery scene near the Copano Causeway. The pipeline owner, Southcross Energy, shut the pipeline down.

Another company that had a pipeline in the area did a jump line to Rockport's distribution center, which services Lamar, and so gas service was maintained for all affected customers.
