Salvation Army, Target Host Back-to-School Shopping Spree

Just in time for the new school year, some local students when on a back-to-school shopping spree.

25 children who live at the emergency Salvation Army Shelter, ages five to 17, were treated to a fun morning at our local Target store on Wednesday. Each of them received $80 to spend on back-to-school essentials.

"This definitely helps each family that lives with us," said Corina Puente, a case manager for the Salvation Army. "It's a big burden to buy school clothes with multiple kids. It just adds up. This is a blessing."

13 of the students were sponsored by Target. The Salvation Army's advisory board picked up the tab for remaining 12.
