Scammer Leases Out Kings Crossing Home via Craigslist

There have been recent reports of a scam going around targeting those who are looking to lease a house or vacation home for a period of time.

The scam originated on Craigslist.com. A scammer found a local home for lease and advertised it on the popular classified ad website, and on Thursday morning, a homeowner in Kings Crossing got a visit from somebody who thought they had leased the home.

The unsuspected victim in the case was Catherine Herrera. She paid the scammer a $500 deposit to secure the home for a summer vacation. When she arrived Thursday morning, she found out she had been duped. The house was for lease, but it wasn't a vacation home.

"I arrived at the place and another person was living there and he came out, to my surprise. To his surprise," Herrera said. "We were both very shocked to know that someone had scammed."

Herrera and her eight other family members ended up checking into a hotel for the rest of their vacation.
