Scholarship Available at Education is Our Freedom GED Scholarship Rally

There are eight $500-$1,000 scholarships up for grabs as the first annual Education is Our Freedom GED Scholarship Rally kicks off Saturday at the Tejano Civil Rights Museum and Resource Center at Heritage Park.

High school students are encouraged to attend and apply to win the scholarships.

"There will be a drawing. 10 lucky seniors will have a scholarship. An opportunity to win a scholarship," said Dr. Nick Adame of LULAC Council 1. "Of course, following under the guidelines of financial aid and if they are ready to go to college by the end of their senior year, then they will get that scholarship."

Adame said that if you attend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi or Del Mar College, the scholarship will be matched dollar for dollar.

The rally will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
