School Takes Part in Lupus Awareness Month for One of Their Own

Purple balloons flew high in the sky Friday as part of a celebration in support of one local high school student who is battling lupus.

Teachers and students at the Corpus Christi College Preparatory High School held an assembly to show support for Jessica Ortiz, a student that was diagnosed with lupus. She has had lupus since she was six years old.

May is Lupus Awareness Month. There is no cure for lupus, just treatment, and educating the community about this disease is needed.
