Seat Belts Save Two Girls in Chapman Ranch Road Accident

The Department of Public Safety confirmed Tuesday that two young girls who were left in serious condition after a fatal accident on Chapman Ranch Road Monday were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

"After the trooper went a little bit further in the investigation by going to the hospital, he found that they were secured by seat belt," DPS Corporal Charlie Ramirez said. "Also talking with the mom, who was also at the hospital."

The mother of the two girls was traveling in the vehicle behind the crash and was able to free the little girls from the wreckage. Those girls are still in serious condition at Driscoll Children's Hospital.

As for the man who was killed in the accident, 43-year old Noe Diaz, officials said he was also wearing his seat belt.

The accident is still under investigation.
