Seven City Employees Awarded Scholarships from the City, TAMUCC

The City of Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi officials gathered Tuesday to draw three names out of seven City employees to receive scholarships as they enter TAMUCC's Master of Public Administration program.

Rather than draw names, however, TAMUCC officials decided they had enough to award all seven employees with scholarships, and City Manager Ron Olson agreed to match the scholarships.

The scholarships include $1,000 from TAMUCC's special scholarship program and an additional $1,000 from the City's education assistance fund. To qualify for the scholarships, students had to have a 3.0 GPA and be an employee of the City.

The seven City employees to receive scholarships were:

Sarah Arroyo, City Auditor's Office
Marie Cruz, Human Resources
Jennifer Ramirez, Capital Programs
Michelle Fitch, Human Resources
Captain Jason Brady, Police Department
Carl Gross, Airport
Kristina Leal, Mayor's Office

The employees will receive a 100-percent scholarship for 12 of the 36 credit hours required in the MPA program at TAMUCC.
