Shop with a Cop Program's Plea Heard by Community

Captain Ed Shannon of the Corpus Christi Police Department made a public plea Monday for community support of the Shop with a Cop program, which gives underprivileged kids a $100 shopping spree for Christmas.

Shannon explained that the program was short $15,000 from what they had at this time last year, which means they will not be able to help as many kids as they wanted to. Many of those children are now on a waiting list.

After airing that public plea on Monday night, program organizers say several people have called in asking how they can donate. In fact, Whataburger made a $2,000 donation, which will benefit 20 kids.

The program is still in need of help. If you would like to donate, you can call361- 442-4787.
