VICTORIA (Kiii Sports) - The Sinton Pirates tweaked their game plan on Friday night and it paid dividends with a 27-14 win over La Vernia.
The ground-oriented Pirates went airborne against a surprised La Vernia defense to set up their first touchdown of the game, a short run by quarterback Tyler Handson.
Handson added to his passing stats in the second half with a touchdown toss to Ethan Owens that made the score 21-7. Colton Cohea would add a 22-yard touchdown run to cement the Pirates' 27-14 victory.
Sinton will now play state-ranked Fairfield at 7:30pm on Friday December 13th at Rhodes Stadium in Katy.
