Sinton School Bus to Del Mar Now a Wireless Hot Spot

A group of students from Sinton High School who are also taking courses at Del Mar College are now able to make the most of their long commute.

The bus ride from Sinton to Del Mar is about an 80 minute round trip, but thanks to technology, the students are staying connected in a way they have never been able to before. To make that commute as productive as possible for students, their bus has been turned into a wireless hot spot on wheels.

It might look like your typical yellow school bus on the outside, but inside, there is something special onboard that is allowing the 15 Sinton High School students to stay connected with their education.

It's a first-of-its-kind system for high school students who are enrolled in the duel-credit program with Del Mar College. Each week, the kids make the long trek from Sinton to Del Mar in order to earn college credit.

The added tool helps the students use their time wisely, enabling them to stay connected with lesson plans and homework.

The students have had the mobile WiFi for just over a week, and are already seeing the advantages; and while the students now have access to the Internet, it doesn't mean they can simply play around online. The hot spot is strictly for homework, not for Youtube or Facebook.
