Slick Roads Cause Morning Accidents on I-37

Icy roads and slick conditions were to blame for a series of accidents along I-37 Friday morning, starting with a rollover at around 7:30 a.m. between Violet and McKinzie roads.

The driver of a truck told police that she was cut off by an 18-wheeler, causing her to lose control of her vehicle. Her vehicle rolled over several times and crashing into the median. Luckily, the driver was wearing her seat belt and walked away from the crash.

"She walked away from the accident. She had her seat belt on," said Captain Mike Alaniz of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "It's very fortunate. Vehicles can be replaced."

The driver told police that she was alright and wanted to head to work. No citations were issued in the accident.

Another accident happened around 8:15 a.m. in the southbound lane I-37 near the Nueces River Bridge.

According to Department of Public Safety troopers, the driver of a car lost control of her vehicle and was then rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle. She was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
