Someone to Know: Crime Stoppers Chairwoman Audrey Vicknair

There's an attorney in town who has been working hard for years to try and give back to her community and make a real difference in people's lives.

Audrey Vicknair loves practicing law and helping people. She is Someone to Know.

"You don't realize how much social work is involved in the practice of law, so I guess it's always in my nature to help people," Vicknair said.

You may recognize Vicknair from her longtime work on the Crime Stoppers board. Right now, she is the chairwoman of that organization.

"I believe that I'm a good leader, and I think the older I've gotten, the better leader I'm becoming," Vicknair said. "So I feel like I am -- our Crime Stoppers board, all of us together -- are working together so well, and I'm trying to help lead that effort. Try to keep that 'cumbayá' atmosphere with all of us, and boy do we have it. We work so well together as a team."

Vicknair grew up in New Jersey and moved to Houston with her family when she was 12. She then went on to graduate from the University of Texas, and then got her law degree at the University of Houston. She moved to Corpus Christi, where she met her husband and began serving in our district attorney's office as a prosecutor; but she believes she found her true calling on the civil side of the law. She now focuses on handling civil appeals.

"I think I'm someone to know because I have learned how to solve problems. I can help you solve your problems," Vicknair said. "I am a good leader. I'm very Type A, you know what they say, if you need something done ask a busy person. When I tell you I'll do something, I'll do it, and I'm all-in 150-percent."
