Super Typhoon Haiyan Update

An estimated 1,200 people have been killed in the typhoon that hammered the Philippines, a Philippine Red Cross official said Saturday.

Super Typhoon Haiyan may possibly be the strongest storm every to make landfall.

Haiyan was so large in diameter that, at one point, its clouds were affecting two-thirds of the country, which stretches more than 1,150 miles.

Predawn Saturday, Haiyan weakened and was no longer a super typhoon, rather a "regular" typhoon with sustained winds of 145 mph, but the storm could return to super typhoon status later Saturday.
