Suspect Flees from Police, Escapes Into Flour Bluff Field

A man suspected of stealing a truck out of the Rockport area fled from Corpus Christi police when he was spotted Tuesday, leading to a full-scale search for the suspect.

The search began just after 3 p.m. when the stolen truck turned up at the Padre Motel in Flour Bluff. The suspect remains on the run after he got away by escaping through a hole in a fence.

The man went through the fence and into a field, leaving behind the stolen truck in the parking lot of the Padre Motel. Several officers surrounded the field, which is just behind the Flour Bluff Wal-Mart, in hopes of spotting the suspect when he came out. However, the field had some pretty thick brush which made finding him more difficult.

"When officers arrived, the gentlemen bolted," said Lt. Carlos Rios of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Possibly went into the field, the back area. Right now we're looking for him. Real thick brush. Still looking for him."

Police described the suspect as a slender white male who stands about six-foot two. He was wearing a black shirt and black shorts. If you happen to spot someone fitting that description coming out of that field, make sure to call police.

If the suspect is found, police said he will be charged with stealing the truck and for running from officers.
