Swarm of Bees Stops Traffic at Intersection of Brownlee, Leopard

A large swarm of bees took over a light pole at the intersection of Brownlee and Leopard at around noon Friday, causing the busy intersection to shut down for about two hours.

Firefighters said they were called to help get rid of the bees and make sure everyone in the area stayed safe.

"It was just a huge swarm of bees, and we had Vector Control come out and he got as many as he could out there," said Captain Mike Pinkerton of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "And he just called us for assistance for foam, just to knock them down now."

The bees have been removed and the intersection was reopened by 2 p.m. Fortunately, no one was stung.
