A student at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is spending her spring break on North Beach restoring a popular sculpture that was vandalized. Residents around Dolphin Park say they noticed the concrete dolphin sculpture was damaged in January. The North Beach Community Association has been looking for someone to make repairs ever since. Erika McIlnay, who is working on her graduate degree in sculpture at the Island University, says she is happy to help.
"I feel community is a big part of art in general, " said Erika. "So, getting out here and being able to help our local community is a big aspect as to why I took on this project."
McIlnay says the project should be wrapped up by this weekend.
