TAMUCC Officials Warn of "Dive Bombing" Birds on University Beach

If you plan on heading out to the University Beach near Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, be warned -- you might get "dive bombed."

According to TAMUCC officials, the beach is a nesting area for terns, a kind of bird that looks similar to a seagull, but is smaller and has a longer beak. Educators said that the birds are in that nesting area, and are likely to be aggressive and could dive at you.

Educators added that it is unusual for terns to nest on a sandy beach, but they tend to lay their eggs on bare grounds without a traditional nest. So be on the lookout for the nests so that you do not disturb them.
