The 2014 Texas Recreation & Park Society Institute and Expo

Hundreds of Parks and Recreation teams from across the state are in town this week for a huge conference that had their skills being put to the test.

The conference was being held along the Bayfront at the barge dock in front of the American Bank Center. Parks and Recreation employees got to show off their truck and trailer skills, and if they touched an orange cone with their trailer, they wouldn't be penalized as long as the cone doesn't fall over.

This was one of seven skills events taking place during this maintenance rodeo. Some of the other tests featured nail driving and a mower obstacle course.

This state conference is held each year in a different city around the state. Our own Kristen Diaz is kicking off the evening festivities as the emcee for the opening night.
