The CCPD's Second Annual Cadet Intern Program

The second annual Cadet Intern Program hosted by the Corpus Christi Police Department is aimed at hiring the top prospective cadets and making them paid interns until they are hired on full-time.

"It allows us to hire the top candidates on our entrance exam and put them to work early, and that keeps them from going to another agency," CCPD Captain Billy Breedlove said.

For the cadet interns, it's a way to gain experience while being paid.

"We get to hear some of the police reports and paperwork behind all the action, and rules, and read," Cadet Derrick Edmond said. "It's good stuff."

The internship spans over three months and is funded by the Crime Control District.
