The Right Way to Mark Your Spot for the Buc Days Parade

The Buc Days Illuminated Night Parade is less than two weeks away, and people are already marking their spots for the parade using chalk, and in some cases, graffiti. However, you might not want to do that just yet. Kiii News Reporter Anayeli Ruiz went Live to tell us why.

Two or three weeks ago, residents began marking their spots for the Buc Days parade, but some decided to use spray paint to mark up a sidewalk, prompting the Corpus Christi Police Department's graffiti removal truck to come clean it up.

If the City catches you spray painting graffiti, you could face a citation of up to $500, and depending on the damage done, you could even face jail time.

However, marking your parade spot using chalk or tape is acceptable.

"It's something we don't encourage, but we want everyone to come out and have a good time. We want everyone to come out, enjoy it, and have a good time, and exercise patience."

Anything that obstructs the right of way for pedestrians is unacceptable, however. Many people have marked off spots using string, which obstructs the walk way. And if it's on private property, the property owner could remove it.

Again, just because you mark your spots, it does not guarantee you that spot for the parade.
