The Top Littering Spots in Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi is known as the "sparkling city by the sea," but some say they don't want the ongoing litter issue to challenge that title.

Some areas are worse than others, but on Wednesday night, the City tried to come up with some solutions to help combat litter. Kiii News Reporter Bill Churchwell went Live at a special gathering at City Hall, where residents were invited to offer their ideas or suggestions.

According to the City, the top six most littered areas that have recurring issues are:

- The RTA bus stop on Ayers and Horne
- The Carmel Village Shopping Center on Everhart and Alameda
- The Laguna Madre (due to visitors who don't pick up after themselves)
- The Stripes near City Hall
- The area around Wal-Mart on Saratoga and Oleander
- The area around HEB on Alameda and Texas Trail

Some of the biggest items found are bottles and plastic bags. The City had previously tried to pass an ordinance to limit plastic bag use in town, but that ultimately was put on hold. It looks like it might be coming back at next week's City Council meeting.
