The news of the Rayz not returning to the American Bank Center will apparently have an impact on the next generation of hockey stars.  Members of the Corpus Christi youth hockey league and their parents feel the Rayz' decision not to come back is also putting the future of their team on thin ice.

The news is especially devastating for 11 year old Garrett Martin and his mom, Kristi. Garrett plays on the Squirts, a team apart of the Corpus Christi youth hockey league.  He's number 41 and Garrett has been looking forward to playing again next season, but if the Rayz don't return, he's afraid the ice won't be there for his team either.  If there is no ice, it could mean having to travel to places like San Antonio, just to practice. Kristi Martin said, "come October when hockey starts up again, there's no way we are going to be able to make that travel for him to play, you're practicing two three times a week, you can't go to San Antonio, its just not feasible."
