A Corpus Christi woman who moved to Houston to get out of a reported abusive relationship is dead.

Police say the prime suspect, the man she was trying to flee from, 26 year old Charles Bryant, gave himself up today after allegedly shooting his former girlfriend, 25 year old Danielle Vargas twice in the head.

According to the victim's family, Bryant broke into the victim's home in Houston and hid under her bed until she returned from work.

A cousin of the victim told police she tried to stop Bryant, he in turn shot at her as well, but missed.

The family says the couple were in an abusive relationship but were never aware of it, until it was too late.
