This time last year, Angel Escobar was the City Engineer. Then he moved up to Interim Assistant City Manager and on Tuesday continued his climb to the top of City government by being named Interim City Manager. He will shadow Skip Noe for the next two weeks and then when Noe leaves his City Manager's post, Escobar will take over. That is until Council decides on a permanent replacement. Escobar vaulted over several other longtime Assistant City Managers but doesn't think there will be any hard feelings. He believes everyone will work together to ensure the City runs smoothly until a new City Manager is hired. That could happen by mid-October.
