Toys for Tots Donates Bikes to Local Headstart Program

"You can really tell that the families are struggling. You can really tell that it's not the greatest area," said Marcelino Barajas with Toys for Tots. "It makes everything that we do well worth it, knowing that that child now has a bicycle or a toy."

The Washington Headstart Program in the 1100 block of North Alameda received bikes and toys on Tuesday. The children in the program will be able to ride away with those items for Christmas.

The local Toys for Tots campaign says that, so far, they have been able to help 15,000 kids around Nueces County, but they would still like to do more.

If you want to sign up to see if you qualify, you can stop by the Toys for Tots office in Sunrise Mall, near Burlington Coat Factory. They will be open from noon-6p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
