TPCO America Hires Contractor for Next Phase in Construction

TPCO America has hired an industrial contractor for the second phase in construction of a new $1.1 billion pipe-making plant near Gregory.

Yates Construction, a Mississippi-based firm with offices in Texas, will be spear-heading that project, which will include administrative offices and a pipe-rolling and finishing mill.

As 3News has reported, the new plant is the largest investment by a Chinese company in a U.S. manufacturing facility. Some 2,000 workers will be involved in building the $1.6 million square foot facility, and when it opens in mid-2016, it will have more than 600 permanent workers and produce 500,000 tons of seamless steel pipe each year for the oil and gas industry.
