Two Injured, Several Displaced After Overnight Apartment Fire

An overnight fire at an apartment complex on 3rd Street near Hancock sent two people to the hospital and left several others homeless.

The fire started just after 1:30 a.m. When fire crews arrived, they said they saw flames shooting out from an upstairs unit. The fire was put out in 15 minutes, but unfortunately that was long enough to leave some without a home.

"At least seven people have been displaced from the building," said Captain James Brown of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "We have notified the Red Cross."

The cause of the blaze is unknown.

Kiii News Reporter Michael Gibson looked into how residents of the apartment complex are coping and went Live from the apartment complex with the details.
