Fingerprinting Technology Helps Nab Two Suspected Murderers

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Border officers in El Paso using fingerprinting technology stopped two men wanted in connection with deaths in Colorado and Kansas.

The apprehensions came as the suspects were trying to enter the U.S. on foot over the Bridge of the Americas.

Forty-one-year-old Miguel Roberto Rangel Zubia of Chihuahua City, Mexico, who was picked up Tuesday. The Integrated Automated Fingerprint Index System matched him to an aggravated vehicular homicide warrant from 1988 out of Reno County, Kansas.

Then Wednesday, 38-year-old Ricardo Esequiel Llamas of Aurora, Colorado, was stopped.

He was wanted in Adams County, Colorado, on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

Both suspects were turned over to El Paso police. Further details on their cases weren't immediately available.
