New Texas Mayor Vows to Crack Down on Illegal Immigrants

KIIITV News

CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) - Another Dallas suburb may soon be starting its own push to drive out illegal immigrants.

Ron Branson was elected mayor of Carrollton over the weekend, and he says his first order of business will be cracking down on illegal immigrants living in the city.

Carrollton borders the city of Farmers Branch, which made national news after voters there passed an ordinance banning most illegal immigrants from renting apartments or homes.

A federal judge has blocked Farmers Branch from enforcing the ban until legal challenges to the ordinance are settled in court.

Branson says he plans to meet often with newly elected Farmers Branch mayor Tim O'Hare, who pushed for the rental ban as a city councilman.

I guess it's OK to build them, but you can't live in them. Why don't we just brand them. This new nationalism is frightening!
