Man Killed by Police After Opening Fire on Officers

KIIITV News

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) - Grand Prairie police fatally shot a barricaded man after he opened fire on officers who responded to a report of his suicide threats.

Police say 46-year-old William Kevin Stanmore was shot and killed Monday morning during a standoff at an apartment.

Detective John Brimmer says police responded to a call of someone firing a gun inside an apartment.

Brimmer says about 45 minutes of negotiations, as the man fired rounds inside the unit, ended when he opened fire on police. A tactical officer then fatally shot the suspect.

No officers were hurt.
