Father, Son Sentenced for Killing Family Rival

AUSTIN (AP) - A father and son from Lockhart have been sentenced to decades in prison for killing a family rival at a summer barbecue.

Fifty-year-old Jesse Davila pleaded guilty this week to shooting and killing Eddie Deleon last year while riding in a car with his son Dwayne.

On Monday, a jury convicted 28-year-old Dwayne Davila of murder. The son had claimed he didn't know what his father was planning when they drove to a barbecue where Deleon was at.

Prosecutors say the shooting was the culmination of a long-running feud the father and son waged with Deleon.

Witnesses testified that Dwayne Davila yelled, "Shoot him, Dad. Shoot him."

The father received a 40-year sentence, while the son got 30 years.
