Prison for Ex-Cop over Sex with Woman He Arrested

KIIITV News

DALLAS (AP) - A now-former Dallas Area Rapid Transit policeman is going to prison after arresting a woman, having sexual relations with her - then freeing her.

A judge in Dallas on Friday sentenced Lance Kendall Bonner of Dallas to 2½ years in federal prison.

Bonner also was fined $10,000 for violating the civil rights of the Dallas woman.

Bonner in April pleaded guilty to deprivation of civil rights under color of law. He must report to prison on Aug. 26.

Prosecutors say Bonner in October 2004 saw the woman at a convenience store, followed her, made a traffic stop and arrested her.

Investigators say Bonner took the woman to jail, but then drove her to an empty DART substation and said he'd free her if she had sexual relations with him.

Prosecutors say the woman complied and was released.
