Grand Jury Considering Criminal Charges Against Polygamist Group

KIIITV News

ELDORADO, Texas (AP) - Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has arrived in Eldorado for the second meeting of the grand jury considering possible criminal charges against a polygamist group.

The grand jury met for a full day last month without issuing indictments stemming from the April raid in which state authorities took more than 400 children into custody and confiscated hundreds of boxes of documents from the group's West Texas ranch. It's unclear what - if anything - the grand jurors will decide Tuesday.

In photographs released as part of a custody case unrelated to any possible criminal charges, polygamist group leader Warren Jeffs was shown apparently kissing an underage girl. A journal entry released in the case also indicates Jeffs married his 15-year-old daughter to a 34-year-old man.
