Woman Recovers Engagement Ring Given to Her by Fallen Soldier

KIIITV News

DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas woman whose soldier fiance died in a bombing in Iraq has her engagement ring back after an arrest in a burglary investigation.

Police say a Hurst man is jailed in the investigation of more than 30 recent burglaries in the Uptown neighborhood of Dallas.

Further details were expected to be released Wednesday by Dallas police.

Investigators say 33 year old Dustin Joseph Kienzlen was arrested Monday night in an auto theft case and remains in custody.

Police say they searched Kienzlen's apartment and discovered some items reported stolen in the Uptown burglaries, including a ring belonging to Melissa Haddad.

Her place was broken into over July 4 holiday weekend.

The ring given to her by Army 2nd Lt. Peter Burks of Dallas had been stolen, but was returned to Haddad on Tuesday by police. Burks died in a November roadside bombing.
