HOUSTON (AP) - A now-former Border Patrol agent from Edinburg pleaded guilty today to abusing illegal immigrants.

Santiago Perez admitted, in federal court in Houston, to violating the civil rights of two immigrants while working in South Texas in 2006 and 2007.

Prosecutors say in once case Perez struck an immigrant from Guatemala in the face with his pistol.

The feds say Perez, in another instance, touched a pistol to an immigrant's head.

Sentencing is November 5th. Perez faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine per count.

He's free on bond.
