Suspected Drunken Driver with 4 DWIs Kills Newlyweds

KIIITV News

DALLAS (AP) - A suspected drunken driver with a history of similar arrests has been charged today over a deadly wreck in Dallas County.

Officials say 22-year-old Uriel Perez Palacios of Dallas remains hospitalized following the accident early yesterday.

His passenger was also hospitalized.

Police say Palacios is charged with two counts of murder and three counts of intoxication assault.

Palacios has four previous DWI arrests.

Authorities say his vehicle was being driven erratically when it raced away from a deputy, ran a red light then went airborne and landed on top of an SUV -- killing a newlywed couple.

Those two victims were 24-year-old second-grade teacher Erika Clouet and 23-year-old construction worker and aspiring musician German Clouet of Irving.

At least three others were injured.

A phone listing for Palacios couldn't immediately be located.
