HOUSTON (AP) - U.S. immigration officials say more than 100 street gang members have been arrested during days-long sweeps throughout Texas.

Officials said Tuesday that federal, state and local officers made the arrests as part of a national initiative targeting transnational gangs.

The Houston, Beaumont and Corpus Christi areas accounted for 80
of the arrests. Another 52 suspected gang members and 14 of their
associates were arrested in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The sweeps also nabbed 36 suspected immigration status violators in southern Texas and 37 in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Officials say the suspects have ties to at least 14 groups, including Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Surenos Trece, Aryan Brotherhood, Latin Kings, La Raza13, Black Disciples, Houstone, Tango Blast, Bloods and Crips.

Nothing will ever, ever, ever happen to any of these individuals because...the criminal has more rights. Sad. Overcrowded prisons...then of course the criminal probably feels more at home in prison because they are around their element, plus they get to get exercise, get fed, and free room and board all at the tax payers expense....what a punishment for individuals who are already used to the system. Harsher punishments are needed!!

All these gang members should be booked into Sheriff Joe Ariapo tent city lock-up in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Federal government should fund more of these camps in the desert communities and feed them on bologna sandwiches? The heat alone will make them think twice about returning to gangs and terrorizing neighborhoods ? Then there is the use of chain gangs as in Angola, Alabama, whose severe penal system could be used in this border state? Thousands of drunk while intoxicated illegal im
