HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A convicted hit man is set for
execution for a triple slaying related to drug deals in Houston
almost 14 years ago.

Christopher Coleman faces lethal injection Tuesday evening in
the state death chamber in Huntsville.

He was condemned for being the gunman in a scheme contrived by a
Colombian man who hoped to eliminate an $80,000 cocaine debt by
staging a robbery. Four people wound up getting shot on a dead-end
street in Houston. Three died, including a 3-year-old boy.

Attorneys for the 37-year-old Coleman hope the U.S. Supreme
Court will stop the execution. His lethal injection would be the
18th this year in Texas and the first of two set for this week.

The death penalty doesn't seem so cruel. In Canada(Winnipeg)it seems that the criminals rule? They get probation, house arrest and 2for1 time served for waiting for trial. We do not have the death penalty!Natives could get a trial by a healing circle. It seems that we have a revolving door syndrome(The police arrest them and the system lets them out )What is the value of a human life? The law is in place to protect the public?Criminals use the defense of they were abused or there race?

It is a horrible tragedy that people were shot and killed here, especially the 3-year old boy but I don't really agree that the death penalty applies here. Just my opinion.

Corpus Christi City Budget

Corpus Christi city revenues aren't keeping up with the budget. What's the city to do? Cut expenses, raise taxes?

  • Small cuts in services and small tax rate hikes.
  • Drastic cuts in city services, no tax increases.
  • Reduce city employee salaries and benefits
  • Reduce all city services including pay cuts, and raise taxes
