Valley Art Museum Director Murdered

Richard Longoria

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Mexican state police have detained a
person of interest in the slaying of a Brownsville art museum
director.

Barry Horn, who was executive director of the Brownsville Museum
of Fine Art, on Saturday was found dead in his home by a co-worker.

Brownsville police called Ernesto Ivan Martinez, a 19-year-old
who had previously stayed in Horn's home, a person of interest.

Police in Matamoros say Martinez was detained Sunday after
Brownsville authorities alerted them to the possibility that he had
crossed the border.

A friend says the 59-year-old Horn had let Martinez stay in his
home until about three weeks ago when he found that Martinez had
withdrawn money using Horn's debit card.
