AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - Paint costing $450 a gallon could be used
to spruce up a courthouse in Amarillo.
     
Potter County commissioners have instructed facilities director
Mike Head to prepare a sample of the special epoxy product for
window frames.
     
An advisory committee is suggesting using the paint, in a
restoration effort meant to keep the windows looking good for up to
30 years.
     
Commissioner Joe Kirkwood, who raised questions about the cost,
said paying $450 a gallon would be fine by him "if this was
100-year paint." Kirkwood says the product sounds like something
NASA uses on space shuttles.
     
The Amarillo Globe-News reports the paint would add about
$22,000 to the $14 million restoration project.
