SAN JUAN, Texas (AP) - Authorities have sent bones to a medical
examiner to determine whether they are human after they were found
during the search of a house.

The bones were found in a shed Wednesday morning when U.S.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' agents and the
San Juan police SWAT team searched a house.

San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez says they're just trying to
make sure the bones aren't human.

Gonzalez says a shrine with animal blood on it was also found,
suggesting devotion to a cult that sacrifices animals and prays to
a saint for good luck.

ATF agents confirmed they executed a search warrant at the
residence but said the U.S. attorney's office ordered them not to
disclose any details.

San Juan is located between McAllen and Harlingen.
